Recording: Interview with Robert Olen Butler
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 08:28PM Robert Olen Butler is the 1993 Pulitzer Prize winning fiction author of A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain. His literary career includes six short story collections, one non-fiction book and eleven novels including his latest, Hell, which just came out September of 2009. Now a professor at Florida State University, teaching his students everything he knows, we figured we would ask him to share some wisdom with us. In our first recorded interview, conducted by editor-in-chief Dylan Emerick-Brown, Butler discusses war, writing, the numerous jobs held throughout his life and his philosophies on how fiction can peer into the white hot core of us. To hear the interview, just click on the author's name below. We hope you enjoy.
"Art does not come from ideas. Art comes from your unconscious. It comes from the place where you dream. It comes from the white hot center of you." - Butler
